Bio

I’m not going to write this in the 3rd person pretending that someone else wrote it about me because we all know that’s not what’s happening here. I’ve lived in Minneapolis my whole life but travel a lot for music stuff… written songs on 3 platinum records and 2 Grammy winning albums, working with some pretty freaky people… Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Etta James, Paul Westerberg, The Replacements, The Warren Brothers, Joe Cocker, John Mayall, 3 Dog Night, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc.

Signed my first publishing deal with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller back in the ‘90’s, spent that decade just writing songs; expanded into engineering, producing and mixing in the 2000’s. Besides producing a ton of midwest things like Communist Daughter and The Replacements, I do a lot of music for film/tv, especially for ESPN. I play a little with my own band (the Okemah Prophets) and I’ve toured on guitar with Paul Westerberg, toured Australia playing with cast members of “Sons Of Anarchy”.

Over the years I’ve hung out a good bit in LA and Nashville writing songs with Liz Rose, Dan Wilson, Kostas, Richie Sambora, Mark Hudson, etc… When I started producing it didn’t leave as much time for writing but lately I missed it so I’ve been doing more co-writing and meeting with publishers. Sometimes I think writing is my favorite part but then when I’m writing sometimes I miss the knobs in the studio so….

I have a full studio with drum room but since I am part time at the Institute of Production and Recording I can use that huge studio (Mastermix) any time, so I often track basics there and finish things at my place.

As you can tell from the schizophrenic nature of my work, I get into stuff because the CONTENT is interesting, not just the STYLE. I bubbly pop music and I love indie rock, blues, folk,  jazz, r&b, country whatever. If the artist is good I’m in.  After working on all the weird things I’ve done with all those weird people I’m up for anything!!
